July 22 Tdub

This is more often used as a mountain bike trail.  It's only 2.5 km but gains 400 meters so its  a bit steep.  We drive part way up the Moose Mountain road and start from there.  The view from the top should be great!

Last week we had a marvelous hike.  Just Meara and I.  We saw lot of deer and watched a black bear from on top of our knoll.  See the photos below...

Monday July 15

I still haven't posted my trip report from last Monday but it was awesome!  Some photos below.

Tomorrow we're heading up Ford Knoll.  This is a little loop around 4km with 200 meters of elevation gain.  Its a little steep but short to the top of the knoll.  It starts near Little Elbow Campground and goes up a knoll to the west.  I've not been up here before but I don't expect it to be difficult.

We'll leave from my house at 5:30 to car pool.  Trail head at 6:15 or so.  Call or text if you are driving out on your own and I'll explain where the trail head is.

July 8th -1st MNH

Welcome to the 1st MNH!

Our first hike is an adventure but it's not too long so if it goes wrong we're not too far bail out.

We drive to Little Elbow Campground and cross the bridge to the Big Elbow Loop trail.  We'll walk about 2.5km and veer right off the trail to see if we can find a way up to the bump that leads up South Glasgow Creek.

The flag is our destination but the trees and vegetation might get pretty thick.

Details:
We'll leave Calgary at 5:30.
We can car pool from my house if that makes sense for you. Otherwise we'll meet at the trail head parking lot at Little
Elbow Campground at 6:
Bring the usual stuff:
Small pack with, water, rain gear and a warm jacket.  Hiking boots if you have them or good walking shoes.  Bug juice might be useful as well😞

Let me know if you are coming so we know to wait if you are behind schedule.
